About Our Presenter
For over 30 years, Shawn Cabey has been building and leading diverse teams that achieve uncompromising excellence, through disciplined collaboration. In the 90's and early 2000's Shawn provided project management services for leading corporate clients, including Bank of America, General Electric, and ICBC (previously Banco de Boston) Argentina, and from September 2001 to February 2003, Shawn relocated to lower Manhattan to provide management support for the reconstruction of 3 World Financial Center, which was severely damaged in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
For the past 17 years Shawn has led teams in the public sector, first as a public school district Chief Business Official, and then as Assistant Superintendent. As a long-time member of both the California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO), and the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), Shawn has been honored to be the recipient of multiple ACSA regional leadership awards, including Classified Leader of the Year and Business Services Administrator of the Year.
As a manager of color, the leadership strategies that Shawn has developed throughout the course of his three decades managing teams in both the private and public sectors provide a unique perspective on one of most critical challenges facing organizations today: developing a culture where inclusion is truly for everyone, where high standards and expectations are non-negotiable, and where innovation and resilience are sustained by trust.
Shawn’s community leadership contributions have included serving on the Board of Directors for the South Antelope Valley Educational Foundation, the Boys & Girls Club of the Antelope Valley, and the Lancaster Performing Arts Center Foundation.
In his down time Shawn’s greatest joys are spending as much time as possible with his best friend/better angel/swim coach/wife, his best bud/social conscience/gym coach/son, and the bundle of infectious adorableness that is his grandson Zeke.
